Lands End Diving is a family run business run by myself
'Ben' with the help of my father 'John', both being experienced
UK divers with myself being a PADI Instructor and my father
a BSAC Dive Leader of 20 years.
We offer a skippered boat charter for qualified scuba divers
who wish to dive around the peninsula of Lands End in Cornwall,
covering the streach of water between Penzance and St Ives.
Offering a huge range of diving which will suit most peoples
needs.
Lands End extends out into the Atlantic and has been
an obstacle for sailors since traders shipped tin from
cornwall thousands of years ago. Countless numbers of
ships have been wrecked along the Cornish coastline, ranging
from four mast sailing ships to second world war battleships.
The south west of Cornwall sits upon granite which forms
most of the cliff line, and most of the small islands
and rocks that jut from the sea. Some rocks have caused
many ships to founder and sink, one famous reef is the
Runnel stone which has clamed more than thirty ships.
These reefs aren't just excellent for wreck diving they
offer some the best reef dives in the Country, when the
vis is over 15m and the reef is alive with fish you would
have to travel a long way to beat it.
The tides can be hairy at times but they offer a benefit
which make it all worth while, this is clean and unpolluted
water it is not unheard of for visibility to reach well
over fifteen metres. Also meaning that apart from in the
height of a plankton bloom the visibility doesn't often
fall below four or five metres.
The tide keeps the seabed clean also leaving very little
fine silt to stirrup during a dive, this makes most dives
nice and light even on overcast days.
